Muscat: State Council plans to discuss a Civil Society proposal and the Anti-Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism Acts draft during an upcoming meeting.
State Council will be in session from April 19 to 20, with civil society organisations’ proposal and the draft for the Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Financing of Terrorism Acts high on the agenda.
The meetings, chaired by Dr. Yahya bin Mahfoudh Al Mantheri, will be held in the presence of honoured members and the Secretary-General of the Council, who will focus discussions during the first day on the proposal submitted by the Committee on Culture, Information and Tourism for “civil society organisations from a legislative and regulatory perspective.”
The agenda includes a letter from the Council of Ministers regarding a proposal of the Council on “the reality of Omani press laws and a legislation governing their work and mechanisms.”
The Secretariat’s report on activities of the Council for the period between the sixth ordinary session and the seventh regular session will also be looked into.
The eight session, to be held on the following day, will discuss the draft of the Anti-Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism Acts,” in response to a referral by the Council of Ministers, the report by the Shura Council and the Legal Committee at the State Council.
