Muscat: State Council hailed the proposal of the Culture, Media and Tourism Committee and its importance in enhancing the role of civil society organisations in sustainable development and activating public private partnership (PPP).
The State Council approved the proposal of the Culture, Media and Tourism Committee on the civil society organisations while taking into consideration the remarks of the members and the formation of a Technical Drafting Committee to include the visions of the honourable members about the proposal.
The Chairman of the State Council said the session also dedicated for discussing the Anti-Money Laundering and Finance of Terrorism Law, which was referred by the Council of Ministers, as well as the report of Majlis Al Shura on the law and the report of State Council’s Legal Committee on the same law.
Dr. Ahmed bin Ali Al Meshaikhi, Head of Culture, Media and Tourism Committee highlighted the importance of the proposal, which affirmed the need to revise the legislations and laws that regularise the work of civil society organisations with cultural interests, the need to activate their role in comprehensive development and identifying the challenges they face.
The agenda of the meeting included reviewing the incoming letter from the Council of Ministers about the State Council’s proposal on the Status of Omani Journalism in Light of the Laws and Regulations that govern it.
The State Council also reviewed the report of the Secretariat General on the period between the sixth and seventh regular sessions of the first annual sitting of the sixth term.
The State Council yesterday held its 7th regular session of the first annual sitting of the 6th term under the chair of Dr. Yahya bin Mahfoudh Al Mantheri, Chairman of State Council.
