Riyadh: His Highness Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers arrived in Riyadh yesterday to take part in the Summit between the GCC leaders and King Mohammed VI of the Kingdom of Morocco and the Summit between the GCC leaders and President Barack Obama of the United States.
The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and King Mohammed VI of the Kingdom of Morocco led the welcoming party for Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud upon his arrival at King Salman Airbase.
Sayyid Fahd and his accompanying delegation were received by Prince Mohammad bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior, Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Governor of Riyadh, Dr. Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al Zayani, GCC Secretary General, some princes, ministers and members of the Mission of Honour accompanying Sayyid Fahd.
Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers gave the following statement on the occasion of his participation, on behalf of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, at the GCC-Morocco Summit and the GCC-US Summit in Riyadh:
"The GCC Leaders-US President Summit in Saudi Arabia comes within the framework of coordination and cooperation to enhance the GCC march, which aims at crystalising a vision that helps in keeping pace with the developments being witnessed by the region to maintain security and stability and allow countries to focus on the socioeconomic development paths, which aim at bringing happiness to their people.
"The GCC-US Summit coincides with another summit that gathers the GCC leaders and King Mohammed VI of Morocco with the objective of supporting the existing partnership between Morocco and the GCC countries.
"It is a great honour for me and the accompanying delegation to take part on behalf of His Majesty the Sultan and convey His Majesty's greetings and best wishes to the GCC leaders, the King of Morocco and the US President.
While the Sultanate reaffirms its continuous support for the GCC and its march, it also greets with high esteem the role being played by Saudi Arabia under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud in enhancing the GCC march. The Sultanate also appeals to Allah to crown this meeting and other meetings among brothers and friends with success to serve the higher common interests".
The official delegation accompanying Sayyid Fahd comprises Yousuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Ali bin Mas'oud Al Sunaidi, Minister of Commerce and Industry and Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Futaisi, Minister of Transport and Communications. The official delegation also comprises government officials.
