
Mucat: His Highness Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers, received Maria Fernanda Espinosa, President of the United Nations General Assembly on Thursday. She conveyed the greetings of UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, along with her greetings to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said.
On the distinguished role played by the General Assembly in enhancing communication between countries of the world, Sayyid Fahd praised the efforts made in this regard, pointing out that the Sultanate under the leadership of His Majesty the Sultan attaches great importance to closer cooperation with all international and regional organizations, stressing on the principles of Omani policy in its international relations aimed at maintaining security and stability in order to achieve sustainable development.
Conversation during the meeting dealt with the role of the UN General Assembly in activating cooperation among Member States and creating the appropriate atmosphere for the consolidation of mutual understanding for the benefit of all people.
A number of current issues were also reviewed at the regional and international arenas and efforts to achieve peace and stability in various regions of the world.
Maria Fernandez Espinosa expressed her pride in the visit to the Sultanate and her admiration for the Sultanate's tangible progress internally and externally, thanks to its wise policies.
She also praised Oman's continued support to the General Assembly and other bodies and organizations to continue implementing its programs to serve humanity, in addition to its positive role in promoting dialogue and consensus for the peaceful resolution of disputes, thereby gaining the respect of all. The meeting was attended by Yousuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah, Minister Responsible of Foreign Affairs.
