
Muscat: Members of the Indian community united to pay tribute to the victims of the Pulwama terror attack, the Indian Embassy in Muscat confirmed.
Indian Ambassador Munu Mahawar led the prayer meeting to pay homage to the martyrs.
In a statement posted online, the embassy said, “The Indian community in Oman paid homage to the martyrs of the Pulwama terror attack at a prayer meet organised at the Embassy.”
The attack, which occurred in the district of Pulwama in the Indian administered-Kashmir, led to the deaths of over 40 members of India’s paramilitary police force.
Vigils have been held across India to honour the victims.
Members of the international community have also condemned the incident and expressed solidarity with India.
In a statement issued, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, “The Sultanate condemns the terrorist attack on an Indian military convoy which resulted in the death of at least 20 soldiers and injured 25 others, after a car bomb collided with a bus belonging to the northern India police.”
The ministry also consoled the victims’ families and prayed for the quick recovery of the wounded. US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said, “The US condemns the horrific terror attack on the Indian security forces. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families. We stand with India as it confronts terrorism.”
British Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt added, “Shocked by the senseless and brutal act of terror in India-administered Kashmir. I offer my sincere condolences to the victims’ families. We stand with India.”
