Muscat: 18 Asian expats were arrested on charges of smuggling diesel, the Royal Oman police announced.
The Musandam coastguard seized nine boats that were attempting to smuggle diesel fuel.
In a statement online, the ROP said, "Musandam and Kumzar Coast Guard police boats seized two diesel smuggling boats near the Ras Qabar Hindi area in Wilayat Khasab, carrying four people of Asian nationality, and the individuals were arrested on charges of diesel smuggling."
"The coast guard also seized seven boats near the island of Musandam in Wilayat Khasab with 14 Asians on board. The suspects were arrested on similar charges," the police added.
The arrested persons were handed over to the Customs Department in Musandam to complete the legal proceedings.
