Muscat: The Ministry of Transport and Communications on Sunday issued a ministerial decision to amend the provisions of the executive regulations of the Land Transport Law.
The amendments included a list of violations and administrative penalties including cancellation of licence in case of repeated violation of taxis transporting passengers from unauthorised places.
The text of the amendment reads: "Article 35 of the list of offenses and administrative sanctions annexed to the executive regulations of the Land Transport Law shall be replaced by: The offence of transferring passengers by taxi from unauthorised places shall be punishable by a fine of OMR50 in the first instance, a fine of OMR100 in case of repetition for the second time, a fine of OMR200 for the third time and a revocation of the license in the fourth violation.
Earlier, for transferring passengers from unauthorized places, there was a fine of OMR 50. Section 35 includes a fine of OMR200 if the taxi is in a licensed parking lot in search of passengers.
