His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said issues four Royal Decrees

Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said on Thursday issued four Royal Decrees that covered the appointment of new judges to the Supreme Court, and the strengthening of bilateral relations between the Sultanate and several European countries.

Royal Decree number 57/2019 confirmed the appointment of seven judges to the Supreme Court of Oman and Royal Decree number 58/2019 was issued over the appointment of a non-resident Ambassador for the Sultanate.

The judges appointed to the Supreme Court were Talib bin Khalifa bin Zayed Al Maamari, Said bin Salim bin Ahmed Al Jabri, Al Mukhtar bin Abdullah bin Issa Al Harthy, Dr Al Fadhl bin Ghasn bin Sinan Al Hinai, Ibrahim bin Abdullah bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Hamad bin Sulyem bin Dhahi Al Riyami and Dr Hamad bin Khamis bin Salim Al Jahwari.

A statement from the country’s national news agency, the Oman News Agency said, “Article 1 appoints Ambassador Yousuf bin Ahmed bin Hamad al- Jabri, Oman’s ambassador to the Republic of Austria, as the Sultanate’s non-resident Ambassador to the Republic of Hungary, the Czech Republic, the Republic of Slovakia, the Republic of Slovenia, the Republic of Croatia, the Republic of Bulgaria and the Republic of Serbia.”

In addition to these, Royal Decree number 59/2019 ratified a bilateral friendship and cooperation agreement signed between Oman and the United Kingdom. This agreement, which is called the Comprehensive Agreement for Established Friendship and Bilateral Cooperation between the Government of the Sultanate of Oman and the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, was signed in London on 22 May earlier this year.

“Article 1 ratifies the above-mentioned agreement signed in the City of London on 22 May, 2019 in accordance with the version attached to this decree,” added ONA.

Lastly, Royal Decree 60/2019 ratified an agreement between Oman and Hungary over the waiver of visas for those who hold diplomatic, special and service passports, with the ONA adding, “Article 1 also ratifies the above-mentioned agreement signed in the City of Muscat on 25 April, 2018 in accordance with the version attached to this decree.”

All four of these Royal Decrees will be published in the Official Gazette and will be enforced from the date of issue.
