Gold shops in Oman do brisk business

Muscat: Gold stores in Oman reported a rise in sales over the weekend, as Indian expats celebrated Dhanteras, which is considered to be an auspicious time to invest in gold.

“Dhanteras is a gold buying festival, and this year we are rewarding our customers with more gold on their purchases,” Anto Ignatious, regional manager – Oman for Joyalukkas, said.

“On Dhanteras, which fell on 25 October, customers received a free 0.200 gm 22k gold coin on purchase of gold jewellery worth OMR300 from Joyalukkas. “For those looking to upgrade to latest designs, we are offering zero per cent deduction on gold exchanges,” Ignatious said.

Malabar Gold & Diamonds lined up a wide range of special offers which included assured gold coins on ‘gold and diamond jewellery’ purchases, free 1gm gold coin on diamond jewellery purchases of OMR 300, and a chance to win up to 50 gold coins.

Najeeb. K, regional head of Malabar Gold & Diamonds said, “The sales are showing an upward growth during this season due to the festivities and associated gifting. People believe in gold being one of the best investments. All our stores have seen an increase in footfalls in the past few days.”
