‘Human rights of people are well protected in Oman’

New York: His Highness Sayyid Taimur bin Fatik Al Said said that the human rights in the Sultanate were well protected by the laws and legislations, which aimed to protect the individuals and the society.
Delivering the Sultanate’s speech at the UN Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Committee affiliated to the UN General Assembly, Sayyid Taimur added that the “Sultanate is one of the countries which has entered into agreements for the protection of child and basic freedom”.
He said that the Sultanate has ratified several other agreements concerned with the rights of workers which were issued by the International Labour Orgainsation (ILO). He also added that the Sultanate has formed a number of national committee and teams including the National Committee for Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination Against Women in 2007, Oman Human Rights Commission in 2008 and the National Committee for Combating Human Trafficking in 2009 among other committees.
