Muscat: The Embassy of India in Muscat has confirmed that there are no immediate plans to arrange special flights to India from Oman to repatriate its citizens.
In a statement issued on Friday, the embassy said: “The Embassy is receiving a number of queries from members of the Indian community in Oman seeking information relating to resumption of flights to India or arrangement of special flights for their urgent travel to India. As is known, in order to effectively deal with the prevailing COVID-19 situation in India, a complete lockdown has been imposed throughout India till 14 April 2020. All passenger flights to and from India have also been suspended. These are temporary measures taken in the interest of all countrymen and are being reviewed regularly at high levels.”
“At this juncture, there are no plans to arrange special flights to India from Oman. It is advised that Indian community members may stay indoors, stay safe wherever they are in Oman and follow the guidelines of Government of Oman,” the statement said.
According to the statement, the Embassy will make an official announcement as soon as a decision to resume passenger flights to India is taken by the Government of India.
