
Muscat: More than 4,000 complaints and reports have been dealt with by the consumer protection authorities since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to a report, The Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP) received 2,269 complaints and 2,314 reports from across the Sultanate. 1412 violations were registered during the period from February 26 to April 30, 2020.
PACP said in a statement: "The complaints and communications varied between raising of prices, lack of commitment to credibility and transparency in dealing with the consumer and selling goods that violate specifications and standards and they were all dealt with according to the applicable legal procedures, after validating the reports."
"Scrutiny and inspection of about 220,000 commercial activities in the Sultanate was carried out during this period," the PACP added.
