Know your wilayat: Baushar, hub of many activities

Where: Situated between the sea and the mountains southwest of Muttrah, wilayat of Baushar is one of the wilayats of Muscat. Ihas several towns and villages of which Al Khuwair, Al Ghubra, Madinat Sultan Qaboos, Al Azaiba, Al Sarooj, and Al Ansab are the prominent ones.

What's Special: One can find several archaeological sites in this place. The Beit Al Kebir (Great House) is a significant monumental remains. While Al Najar Mosque in the Bowshar Bani Umran Municipality is a very old mosque built in the thirteenth century, Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque is at the heart of Wilayat. There are several ministries, specialised hospitals, and the Royal Opera House Muscat (ROHM). While Al Ansab features many modern villas built in architectural styles, Ghala continues to remain the hub of all activities. Birdwatching in Al Ansab wetlands is quite popular. Sports lover cannot miss the iconic Sultan Qaboos Sport Complex.

Occupation: Agriculture is the main occupation for the people of Bausher.The most important crops cultivated here are citrus and lemon.Apart from agriculture people are also engaged in fishing and grazing. Traditional industries such as gold, silver, and handicrafts making are also there.
