Cases handled by Public Prosecution in October decrease

Muscat: Public Prosecution (PP) has witnessed a decrease in total cases during October compared to last month by 10.9 per cent.

The PP revealed that it has received 2,051 cases last October at a rate of 66 cases a day; or about three cases an hour which is a decrease of 10.9 per cent compared to last month where 2,303 cases were received during September 2020.

Data revealed that the Public Prosecution has received 169 online complaints during October at the rate of five online complaints a day.

The statistics released showed that the investigation reports decreased by 10 percent in October where it had increased by 74 per cent in September  compared to August.

PP statistics also showed that the number of suspects on different charges amounted to 2,564 compared with 2,826 suspects during September.

The number of judicial decisions taken by the Public Prosecution on different cases amounted to 1,105 decisions and 11,617 judicial orders have been issued during October.

In September the Public Prosecution also received 79 different applications in its Auditors Services Department.
