
Muscat: The Environment Authority has arrested expats who were burning large piles of firewood for the purpose of producing tons of charcoal to distribute and sell in the local market.
The Environment Authority said in a statement, "The Environment Department in Al Batinah South Governorate, in cooperation with the Royal Oman Police, arrested expatriate workers who were burning large piles of firewood from Samar and Green Ghaf trees for the purpose of producing tons of charcoal which was then packed in bags ready for distribution and sale in the local market. The legal procedures and confiscation of seizures are completed against them."
