Washington: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Central Bank of Oman (CBO) and the Ministry of Finance, is participating in the 2024 annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group. The meetings began in Washington DC today, and will continue until 26 October 2024.

The meetings discuss developments in the global economy in light of the beginning of interest rate cuts led by the US Federal Reserve, the impact of geopolitical aspects due to the war in the Middle East and Europe, climate change and its impact on economic growth and financing, and the remarkable acceleration in artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning.

This important event brings together economic stakeholders from around the world to discuss pressing issues facing the international community. The meetings provide a platform for engaging in vital discussions on global economic stability, sustainable development, and the future of financial systems.

The Sultanate of Oman’s participation in the annual meetings of the IMF and the World Bank Group confirms the country’s commitment to effective participation in global economic discussions.

The Sultanate of Oman’s delegation will also participate in bilateral meetings with their counterparts from various countries and leading international institutions to enhance cooperation, discuss issues of common interest, and explore potential avenues for partnership.
