Sohar: HH Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham Al Said, Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth, graced the Omani Youth Day ceremony held at Sohar Fort in North Al Batinah Governorate this evening.
The event, organized under the theme "Extension," marked Oman's rich historical legacy and national identity while highlighting youth intellectual contributions and Omani projects and initiatives that have significantly contributed to empowering the nation's young generation.
The ceremony commenced with an immersive tour of the "Extension" experience, showcasing the innovative and creative accomplishments of Omani youth across diverse fields. This was followed by a visual presentation that artistically conveyed the vision and aspirations of young Omanis through a composite artwork blending elements from Oman's varied environmental landscapes. The presentation powerfully expressed themes of national pride, cultural belonging, and the continued commitment to national development and contribution.
A significant announcement featured the establishment of a new Youth Centre branch in the Wilayat of Sohar, North Al Batinah Governorate. This development represents a strategic expansion of the national initiative to create supportive environments that nurture youth creativity and innovation across all governorates.
The ceremony featured the signing of seven cooperation and partnership agreements between the Youth Centre and multiple private sector entities. These included an agreement with Vale Oman to fund the construction of the new Youth Centre branch in Sohar, and another agreement with Oman India Fertilizer Company (OMIFCO) to finance the conference and exhibition centre project at the Youth Centre in Sur, South A’Sharqiyah Governorate.
Additional strategic partnerships were formalized with Mohsin Haider Darwish Group, OQ Group, Sohar Aluminium Company, and Sohar Port Company, alongside a separate cooperation agreement with OQ Exploration and Production.
In recognition of outstanding youth accomplishments, HH Sayyid Theyazin honoured recipients of the 2025 Youth Excellence Award, celebrating successful youth-led initiatives across multiple sectors. In digital media, honours were conferred upon Hajer Jumaa Al Amri for her podcast "Kawalees Aqleeya" or “Mental Backstage” in the individual category, and the "Nabd Sohar" or “The Pulse of Sohar” media team for their "Inspiring Paths" initiative, which produces motivational visual content highlighting youth achievements.
The digital economy category recognized the "Qualifying Omani Pilots for Agricultural Spraying" project by Ankaa Space and Technology. Initiative awards honoured several projects including "Hear Me" for social empowerment, "We Remain and the Dream Continues" for promoting reading culture, "Creative Mornings" for enhancing dialogue and experience exchange, "Nutfat Khair" or “Seed of Goodness” for developing faith awareness among youth, and "Our Mark is Different" for advancing environmental awareness and sustainability.
Environmental category awards celebrated Eng. Anwar Al Bimani's "Qushoor" project, which transforms marine shells into sustainable products; Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al Raisi's "Wujha" or “Destination” project, developing premium vehicle care products and services; and Rehab Al Maamari's "Blooming" environmental entrepreneurship venture, creating eco-friendly products using local resources.
Entrepreneurship honours included Fatima Jaafar Al Lawati's "Mangaka Bag" project, Ali Al Rubkhi's "Smart Developer" initiative, and AWJ Company's "Dot Next" project.
The ceremony also acknowledged supporting partners from government and private institutions, recognizing their substantial contributions to youth empowerment and the enhancement of volunteer and community work environments throughout the Sultanate of Oman. The event concluded with a special musical performance titled "Extension," symbolizing the enduring ambition of Omani youth to continue their journey of national contribution and achievement.
