
Muscat --- Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, conducted a series of high-level diplomatic meetings today, underscoring the nation's pivotal role in fostering regional dialogue and strengthening international partnerships.
He commenced his diplomatic engagements by receiving Hans Grundberg, Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General for Yemen. The discussions centered on the critical efforts to support the Yemeni parties in committing to a negotiated path, with the ultimate goal of achieving a sustainable political resolution that ends the crisis and fulfills the Yemeni people's legitimate aspirations for peace and stability.
Subsequently, in a meeting with Musa Al-Koni, Vice President of the Libyan Presidential Council, the two sides examined the evolving situation in Libya. They underscored the imperative of bolstering current endeavours to secure lasting political and security stability. The conversation also explored concrete avenues to enhance the fraternal cooperation between Oman and Libya, focusing on initiatives that serve mutual interests and advance the cause of national dialogue and reconciliation.
Further reinforcing regional collaboration, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister met with Jassem Mohammed Al-Budaiwi, GCC Secretary-General. Their discussions provided a comprehensive overview of the robust cooperative ties between Oman and the GCC Secretariat General. A significant focus was placed on the strategic exchange of expertise to fortify joint Gulf action across the political, economic, and social spheres. The conversation also encompassed the GCC's evolving role in strengthening dialogues and negotiations with international partners to best serve the collective interests of its member states.
Sayyid Badr also met with Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi, Minister of State at the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The two sides undertook a thorough review of the enduring cooperative relations between their nations and identified promising opportunities for their further development across multiple domains. They also exchanged perspectives on a range of regional and international issues of common concern, jointly affirming their commitment to sustained coordination and consultation to enhance collective action and promote security and stability throughout the region.
These meetings were attended by Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Harthy, Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Political Affairs, alongside senior officials from the ministry.
Additionally, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister received Andreas Kravik, State Secretary at the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The two sides reviewed the extensive scope of existing cooperation between Oman and Norway, with particular emphasis on their collaborative work in the fields of mediation and dialogue facilitation. They exchanged views on pressing regional and international developments, stressing the importance of enhanced coordination on matters of peace and security and reaffirming their support for peaceful conflict resolution. The conversation also ventured into opportunities for expanding the bilateral partnership into areas such as education, culture, and sustainable development, thereby deepening the bonds of friendship and shared purpose.
Further, Sayyid Badr Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister met with Dr. Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The two ministers took stock of the positive trajectory of bilateral relations, noting the encouraging progress across various fields of cooperation that continue to yield mutual benefits.
