MUSCAT: The National Day festivities may have kicked off last week with spectacular parades and fireworks, but the celebration is far from over — with citizens and residents now looking to make the most of the upcoming long weekend.

From Wednesday, November 26, to Saturday, November 29, 2025, people are expected to head out for short getaways, with staycations emerging as the holiday trend of choice.

Travel agents and hoteliers reported a surge in bookings, with residents drawn to Oman’s mountains, deserts, and city retreats, while international arrivals continue to maintain steady interest.

Blessed with crisp weather and clear skies, the timing could not be better for outdoor escapes, picnics, family adventures, and even urban getaways in Muscat.

Mountain escapes
Leading the way is dusitD2 Naseem Resort in Jabal Akhdar, offering a high-altitude National Day experience.

The resort’s National Day Mountain Escape runs November 26–29 from OMR 105++ per night, including breakfast and unlimited access to the Adventure Park, featuring climbing, a three-level ropes course, a 107m zipline, padel sessions, and a mini cinema for kids.

“Oman National Day brings together families and communities across the country. Our curated experiences highlight connection, celebration, and togetherness, all set against the beauty of Jabal Akhdar’s mountain landscape,” said Jagdeep Thakral, General Manager of dusitD2 Naseem Resort.

The View Oman offers a separate luxury retreat near Al Hamra. Perched 1,400 metres above sea level, the eco-resort overlooks dramatic valleys and promises tranquility, starlit dining, a mountainside infinity pool, and easy access to Jabal Shams, Al Hoota Cave, and Nizwa Fort. Guests can trek, bike, or hike through pristine landscapes, or relax with spa therapies and panoramic sunset dinners. National Day packages start from OMR 125, inclusive of dinner and breakfast for two.

“Once you arrive, the scenery takes your breath away. The View combines spectacular natural beauty with excellent amenities and genuine hospitality,” said Akbar Abbas, Resort Manager.

Desert adventures

Families drawn to the sands can head to Desert Nights Resort Hotel in Sharqiyah Sands, which is offering early check-in (subject to availability), complimentary extra beds for children under six, and 15% off F&B, activities, and spa services. From starlit desert walks to dune adventures, the resort promises an unforgettable holiday under Oman’s golden skies.

City retreats

Back in Muscat, Sheraton Oman has a one-night National Day package from November 26–27 at OMR 69 net, allowing two children under 12 to stay free, with buffet breakfast and dinner at Courtyard.

November 27 will feature a special Gaucho night dinner to coincide with Thanksgiving Day.

“Our occupancy is almost full and we have special National Day theme celebrations,” said Rejin Thomas, Sheraton Hotel Manager.

Families are already embracing these local escapes.

Ranju Singh, a long-time resident and mother of two, said, “The Adventure Park at dusitD2 Naseem Resort is exceptional for both children and adults. I look forward to relishing the cool mountain climate and trying out some of the activities there along with my teenage children, who just love spending time out there. Staycations are perfect for families to spend quality time together.”

Dining highlights
For those staying in Muscat, Jungle Restaurant Complex and Bahja Hall in Qurum has relaunched with a fresh menu and new mocktails just in time for National Day.

“We have recently relaunched Jungle Restaurant with a redesigned menu featuring diverse flavours and newly added dishes,” said Aizat Duishekeeva, Head of Jungle Restaurant Complex and Bahja Hall, Qurum.

Besides dining, school children visiting the venue can participate in rainforest planting activities, while Bahja Hall offers a dedicated space for family events and celebrations.

From mountains to deserts, and city retreats to coastal resorts, Omanis are embracing the National Day long weekend with a renewed appreciation for local travel — celebrating their country, reconnecting with family, and making the most of a short but meaningful holiday.
