HM’s Cup football: Oman to take on Al Nahda for title

Muscat: Oman Club and Al Nahda Club will clash in the His Majesty’s Cup Football Championship final on 14 February at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher, promising a historic showdown between two sides.

His Highness Sayyid Bilarab bin Haitham Al Said, Minister of State and Governor of Muscat, will preside over the final.

Oman Club will be aiming for their third HM’s Cup title, having previously lifted the trophy in 1979 and 1994 — maintaining a perfect record in finals to date.

Their appearance in the 2026 final comes 32 years after their last triumph, marking a long-awaited return to the competition’s showpiece.

Al Nahda, meanwhile, will hope to build on recent success, having claimed their maiden HM’s Cup title in the 2022–23 season.

The Buraimi-based side has reached four finals overall, winning once and finishing runner-up three times, and will be eager to add a second trophy to their cabinet.

At the Al Buraimi Sports Complex on Thursday, Al Nahda produced a commanding performance in the second leg, overturning a 1–0 first-leg deficit with a 2–0 win.

Azzan al Tamimi restored parity in the aggregate scoreline before Ahed al Mashaikhi doubled the lead, securing their place in the final.

In Salalah, Oman advanced after a 1–1 draw in the second leg on Thursday, building on a 2–0 first-leg victory.

Al Nasr took the lead through Abdullah al Musharafi, but Ahmed al Siyabi equalised for Oman.

A red-card incident reduced Al Nasr to 10 men, and Oman Club managed the closing stages with composure to confirm their final berth under Moroccan coach Driss El Mrabet.
