Agriculture ministry signs Country Programme Framework agreement 2026–2030 with FAO

Muscat: The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources on Thursday signed the Country Programme Framework (CPF) Agreement for the Sultanate of Oman for the period 2026–2030. The CPF agreement was inked with the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO).

The agreement was signed by Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al Bakri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources for Agriculture,Dr. Abdul-Hakim Elwaer, FAO Assistant Director-General and Regional Representative for the Near East and North Africa.

The CPF constitutes the outcome of a major consultative process that saw the participation of different stakeholders, including government departments, private sector establishments, civil society organizations and experts from UN agencies. It reflects a deep-rooted partnership aimed at supporting national development priorities and enhancing the scheme of food security.

The CPF seeks to support the efforts of the Sultanate of Oman in developing the sector of agriculture, boosting the sector’s sustainability and resilience, improving the efficiency of value chains and streamlining the management of natural resources. It also deals with ways to support climate action and contribute to the realisation of sustainable development goals (SDGs).
