Sadah, Mirbat witness moderate to heavy rains

Muscat: The Wilayats of Sadah and Mirbat in Dhofar Governorate experienced moderate to heavy rainfall on Sunday as the Al-Masarrat low-pressure system continues to affect the Sultanate of Oman, bringing unstable weather conditions and varying intensities of precipitation across several areas.

In the Wilayat of Sadah, moderate to heavy rain fell over most parts of the state during the evening hours, resulting in the flow of a number of streams. Areas affected included Hadbin, Fushi, Atah, Shaliun, Jawfa, and Sawb, where water runoff was observed following the rainfall.

Meanwhile, in the Wilayat of Mirbat, the Ain and Hino areas recorded heavy rainfall, which led to the flow of multiple valleys.

These included the eastern and western Ain valleys, in addition to the Atounat and Anshir valleys in the Hino area, reflecting the intensity of the precipitation in the region.

These rainfall events are part of the direct impacts of the current weather system, which has contributed to the development of cumulonimbus clouds across parts of Dhofar Governorate. Such cloud formations have resulted in rainfall of varying intensity in several wilayats, accompanied by localised stream and valley flows.

Authorities continue to monitor weather conditions closely, as the ongoing system is expected to produce further rainfall in different parts of the Sultanate.

Residents are advised to exercise caution, particularly near valleys and low-lying areas prone to flash flooding during periods of heavy rain.
