Oman, 14 nations condemn Israel move on Somaliland

Muscat: Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi and foreign ministers from 14 countries strongly condemned Israel’s announcement to appoint a diplomatic envoy to “Somaliland,” calling it a violation of Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The joint statement—issued with counterparts from Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Somalia, Sudan, Libya, Bangladesh, Algeria, Palestine, Turkey, Indonesia, Pakistan, Mauritania, and Jordan—rejected any unilateral actions that undermine state unity or sovereignty.

The ministers reaffirmed full support for Somalia’s unity and its legitimate institutions as the sole representatives of the Somali people.

They also warned that such steps breach international law, the UN Charter, and the African Union’s founding principles, and could destabilize the Horn of Africa, with wider implications for regional peace and security.
