Ministry of Labour confirms start date for mandatory midday breaks for outdoor workers

Muscat: The Ministry of Labour (MoL) has clarified that news currently circulating on social media regarding a midday work ban is premature, as the restrictions are not yet in effect. The Ministry issued a statement to address videos and posts suggesting that the ban is already active at construction sites and open areas.

The annual midday work ban is strictly scheduled to run from the beginning of June until the end of August. During this three-month period, outdoor work in open areas is prohibited between 12:30 PM and 3:30 PM to protect workers from extreme summer temperatures.

The Ministry has urged the public to obtain information exclusively from official sources. It further advised against circulating or publishing inaccurate information that could lead to confusion within the community regarding labour regulations and safety mandates.
