Muscat: The Ministry of Health, represented by the Ather Health Endowment Foundation, launched today the second phase of its initiative to provide treatment for Zakat beneficiaries in the private healthcare sector. Applications for treatment are now being accepted from Zakat beneficiaries registered with the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs and will continue until Thursday, August 20, 2026.
Applications can be submitted via the registration link on the Ministry of Health's online health portal, which is dedicated to enabling Zakat beneficiaries to register for the initiative and benefit from the treatment services offered through it, or through the Zakat committees in the wilayats affiliated with the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs.
Registration applications will be cross-checked against the lists of Zakat beneficiaries registered with the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs. Approved applications will then be forwarded to the Ministry of Health to be matched with the waiting lists for surgeries and diagnostic radiology. The Ministry will subsequently determine the private healthcare facility that will perform the appropriate surgery, diagnostic examination, or treatment for each case.
The applicant will be notified of the healthcare facility and the scheduled appointment for treatment. The Ministry of Health and the Athar Endowment Health Foundation will follow up on the cases until the required treatment is completed.
This initiative stems from the directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik to allocate funds for the treatment of those eligible for Zakat, affirming the wise vision of the leadership, reinforcing the values of social solidarity, and embodying the principles of altruism and generosity.
The initiative aims to provide treatment for those eligible for Zakat, thereby strengthening the spirit of solidarity and participation, which are deeply rooted values in Omani society. It also contributes to improving the quality of life, bridging the healthcare gap, and expediting access to healthcare services for beneficiaries.
The initiative includes surgical procedures and diagnostic radiology services at private hospitals across the Sultanate of Oman, which will contribute to accelerating treatment delivery and reducing waiting lists at referral hospitals.
