Information Ministry concludes second phase of 'Tabseer' campaign

Muscat--- The Ministry of Information concluded today the second phase of the awareness campaign for the optimal use of social media, "Tabseer," which was implemented over a period of two weeks across social media platforms.

The campaign saw the participation of the Royal Oman Police (ROP), the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), and the Ministry of Social Development, within the framework of national efforts aimed at enhancing awareness of the responsible and safe use of digital platforms.

This campaign comes within the initiatives of the development workshop launched by the Ministry of Information in 2025, titled "Towards a National Framework for Dealing with Social Media," in cooperation with a number of government and private entities and the civil society.

The campaign, which was launched on 22 June 2026, aimed to raise the level of community awareness regarding the importance of positive social media use, promote responsible digital behavior, and limit practices that may result in negative consequences, particularly on the youth, by providing educational content addressing the legal, technical, social, educational, and family aspects associated with the digital space.

The campaign came in response to the rapid global expansion in the use of digital platforms and what they represent as influential tools in shaping societal awareness and behavior. This expansion necessitates enhancing digital literacy and instilling principles of conscious and responsible use among the youth, in a manner that maximizes the benefits of the potentials provided by these means and mitigates the risks associated with their misuse.

The awareness messages focused on spreading a culture of respect for the systems and laws regulating the use of social media, raising awareness about the importance of protecting privacy and personal data, and enhancing digital security, alongside highlighting the role of the family in guiding children toward a balanced use of modern technologies, thereby contributing to building a safer and more stable digital environment.

The partnership among the participating entities formed a model of institutional integration, as each entity provided awareness content reflecting its specialization, within a unified framework and common objectives.

The Ministry of Information addressed awareness regarding dealing with social media, interacting with issues that arise and circulate on it, and the extent of its impact on children. The Royal Oman Police handled awareness on the dangers of using social media and the legal aspects associated with its responsible use.

Meanwhile, the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority focused on cybersecurity concepts, personal data protection, and raising awareness of sound technical practices. Moreover, the Ministry of Social Development focused on social and family aspects, the importance of enhancing family dialogue, and consolidating positive values when dealing with social media.

The campaign relied on diverse digital content designed to suit the nature of social media platforms through brief awareness messages. Care was taken in their preparation to ensure they are clear, attractive, and easily accessible, thus contributing to delivering the messages to the largest possible segment of followers and motivating them to interact with them.

The participating entities also maintained their independent visual identities across all published materials, while adhering to the main goals and messages of the campaign. This allowed for diversity in presentation methods and content, and contributed to enhancing the campaign's presence and its reach to larger and more comprehensive segments.

The execution of the campaign was accompanied by monitoring of interaction with the hashtag #Tabseer, alongside tracking reach and engagement indicators with the content published across digital platforms, to measure the impact of the campaign and the spread of its messages, and to utilize the results in developing future awareness initiatives and enhancing the efficiency of digital media campaigns.

The "Tabseer" campaign comes within the framework of the interest of the Ministry of Information and its partners in enhancing community awareness and consolidating a culture of optimal social media use, supporting the building of a conscious digital society capable of utilizing modern technologies in a positive and responsible manner, in line with national development targets in human development and promoting digital culture.
