Bidbid; The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology continues to implement the rehabilitation project of Sultan Thuwaini bin Said Road (Bidbid–Nizwa), spanning from the A’Sharqiyah intersection to the Farq intersection in A’Dakhiliyah Governorate, with the completion rate reaching 89.46 percent, advancing ahead of the planned schedule.
The project, which has a total cost of more than RO 10 million, aims to rehabilitate the road and its associated elements, treat damaged sections, and enhance traffic safety features. This will raise the road's operational efficiency, improve the level of service, and ensure the continuity of its performance in a manner commensurate with the volume of traffic.
The project involves the application of several modern engineering solutions and technologies, most notably the use of "Geogrid" technology in the rehabilitation works. This contributes to enhancing the efficiency of the pavement layers and extending their expected lifespan, in accordance with the best approved engineering practices.
The project is expected to contribute to enhancing connectivity between the wilayats of A’Dakhiliyah Governorate and neighboring governorates, raising the level of traffic safety, improving traffic flow, and supporting the efficiency of the transport network. This aligns with the Ministry's directions toward developing sustainable infrastructure that meets the developmental and economic requirements of the Sultanate of Oman.
