
Salalah: The telecommunications sector has announced its readiness for the Khareef Dhofar (monsoon) season 2026. This comes as part of the efforts exerted to ensure the quality of telecommunication services during the tourist season, which annually witnesses a high influx of visitors.
The telecommunications sector has implemented a package of projects, including the installation of 29 new telecommunication stations to expand and improve coverage across various locations. Furthermore, 13 new stations were installed along the Sultan Said bin Taimur Road to ensure a continuous and secure connection for road users.
Additionally, 40 stations were upgraded to fifth-generation (5G) technologies to enhance the performance of data and communication services. The capacity of 58 links was also increased to guarantee connection speed and stability. Moreover, the transmission lines of 30 stations were upgraded to improve network efficiency and capacity.
In preparation for locations expected to witness a high density of visitors during the season, 38 mobile telecommunication stations have been deployed. This measure aims to enhance coverage and accommodate the anticipated surge in the usage of telecommunication services.
The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) affirmed that these efforts align with the sector's objectives of enhancing the readiness of telecommunication services during tourist seasons. They also seek to meet users' needs and ensure a continuous and secure communication experience across the various areas of the Dhofar Governorate.
