Pegula advances to final of Washington Open tennis tournament

Washington: American Jessica Pegula, ranked world No. 3, defeated Russian Diana Shnaider 7-5, 6-4 to advance to the final of the Washington Open tennis tournament, where she will face Filipino Alexandra Eala, who overcame Japanese Naomi Osaka 6-4, 6-2.

Pegula, 32, is aiming for her third title of the year and the 12th of her career, having previously won in Dubai and Charleston. She claimed her first WTA Tour title in Washington back in 2019.
