Liwa: The Municipality of North Al Batinah is implementing the entrance development project in the Wilayat of Liwa, with construction works having reached an 80 percent completion rate. The project, worth OMR2.1 million, is designed to upgrade infrastructure and enhance the urban landscape of the central district of Liwa.
Eng. Walid Nasser Al Nabhani, Director of the Projects Department at the Municipality of North Al Batinah, stated that the project encompasses the installation of modern lighting systems, the construction of pedestrian and bicycle pathways to promote safety and sustainable mobility, as well as measures to address stormwater accumulation along the stretch from the Liwa Roundabout to the Al Zahiyah Tunnel. In addition, the project includes landscaping works and the installation of seating areas along the roadside.
He explained that the total length of the project extends to approximately 4 kilometres, adding that current efforts are focused on completing the remaining phases. The project is regarded as a vital initiative aimed at strengthening infrastructure and elevating the quality of services in the wilaya.
Al Nabhani further noted that the project also features the "Liwa Track," a 2.7-kilometre route designated for bicycles, e-bikes, and pedestrians, serving as a safe and sustainable mobility corridor. The track is intended to encourage community members to engage in physical activities and adopt healthy, active lifestyles.
