Muscat: The Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) will organise the Social Investment and Sustainable Development Forum in Salalah from August 30 to 31, with the opening ceremony to be sponsored by His Highness Sayyid Marwan bin Turki Al Said, Governor of Dhofar.
The forum will serve as a national platform for dialogue, cooperation and partnership-building, focusing on strengthening social investment as a sustainable development and investment pathway capable of turning social, economic and environmental challenges into viable and measurable investment opportunities.
It aims to shift social investment away from short-term initiatives towards sustainable investment models with measurable impact, bringing together government institutions, the private sector, investors, civil society organisations and social entrepreneurs.
Participants will exchange experiences, develop partnerships and explore practical initiatives that combine financial returns with social, economic and environmental impact, in line with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040 and the Sustainable Development Goals.
The forum will address four strategic areas: empowerment and integration; partnerships and stimulation; capacity building and knowledge; and innovative financing.
Discussions will include creating an enabling environment for social investment, connecting investors with impactful projects, developing national knowledge and databases, and establishing sustainable financing mechanisms, including developmental endowments.
An accompanying exhibition will showcase pioneering social investment projects and initiatives, demonstrating how social, economic and environmental challenges can be transformed into sustainable opportunities with measurable impact.
The exhibition will also provide social entrepreneurs and emerging talents with an opportunity to present their products, ideas and innovations and connect with institutions, investors and potential partners to help turn promising initiatives into viable and sustainable projects.
