Salalah: The outcomes of the "Social Investment and Sustainable Development 2026" Forum have underscored the critical importance of sustained dialogue, cross-sectoral integration among all relevant stakeholders, and the continued exchange of knowledge and expertise.
In its concluding session, the forum issued a set of recommendations calling for the development of a comprehensive national framework for social investment, the strengthening of multi-sectoral partnerships, the adoption of clear indicators for impact measurement and governance, and the advancement of financing instruments and incentive structures for social enterprises. Additionally, the forum emphasised the necessity of building the capacities of entrepreneurs and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), thereby contributing to the creation of a more cohesive ecosystem capable of effectively responding to social and developmental challenges.
The "Social Investment and Sustainable Development 2026" Forum was organised by Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), represented by its Social Investment Centre, over the course of two days. The event centered on transitioning from dialogue to actionable solutions, transforming challenges and opportunities into implementable initiatives, and forging partnerships that enhance the impact and sustainability of social investment. This was achieved through an interactive programme that addressed human and idea empowerment, capacity building, integration and partnership enhancement, and innovative financing mechanisms.
The second day of the forum featured an interactive agenda covering human and idea empowerment, capacity development, strengthening integration and partnerships, alongside an exploration of innovative financing mechanisms and their role in supporting social initiatives and converting them into sustainable, measurable projects.
The programme commenced with a session titled "What Have We Learned and Where Are We Heading?" which reviewed the principal findings from the first day's deliberations and connected discussions and interventions with practical steps and actionable outcomes to be built upon in the subsequent phase.
