Shaleem & Al Halaniyat Islands: The second edition of a workshop on promoting concepts of media literacy, themed "Empowering Minds in the Age of Artificial Intelligence (AI)", kicked off on Monday in the Wilayat of Shaleem and Al Halaniyat Islands, Dhofar Governorate.
The two-day workshop is organised by the Ministry of Education in cooperation with Petroleum Development Oman (PDO).
The event targets teachers, students and representatives of different government, private and civil society institutions across the wilayats of Dhofar Governorate. It is in pursuance of efforts made by Oman National Commission for Education, Culture and Science as part of the Media Literacy Week organised by the UNESCO.
The workshop was held under the auspices of Abdulhakeem bin Mohammed Al Rashdi, Wali of Shaleem and Al Halaniyat Islands.
The first edition of the initiative was launched last March (2026) in the Wilayat of Bahla, A’Dakhiliyah Governorate.
The event aims to develop critical thinking skills and promote the ability to verify media content, with the prime objective of raising public awareness about the safe, responsible and ethical use of AI applications.
