Oman participates in seminar on challenges posed by non-state armed groups

New York: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by its Permanent Delegation to the United Nations in New York, participated in a seminar entitled "Challenges Associated with Non-State Armed Groups," organized in New York by the GCC Secretariat General on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, with the participation of a number of officials and representatives of the GCC states and the United Nations.

The seminar examined the challenges posed by non-state armed groups and their implications for the sovereignty, security, and stability of states, as well as ways to strengthen the role of state institutions, entrench the rule of law, and develop mechanisms for cooperation and coordination at both the regional and international levels, thereby contributing to addressing these challenges and mitigating their repercussions.

The discussions also addressed the importance of integrating international efforts and enhancing multilateral action to tackle the root causes of instability, and of supporting solutions that contribute to safeguarding the sovereignty of states and reinforcing regional and international security and stability.
