Oman, Italy explore opportunities in archaeological site management, tourism promotion

Rome: Sayyid Ibrahim Said Al Busaidi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism, discussed enhancing cooperation in the fields of heritage and tourism with several Italian officials during his visit to the Italian Republic.

During the meeting, the minister also explored partnership opportunities with specialised Italian institutions.

The Minister of Heritage and Tourism met with representatives of the Italian Alpine Club (Club Alpino Italiano) and Renco Company. The meeting addressed cooperation opportunities in developing mountain and adventure tourism, and leveraging Italian expertise in developing trails and related services, thereby enhancing the diversity of tourism experiences in the Sultanate of Oman.

Furthermore, the Minister visited the Colosseum Archaeological Park and met with its management. He was briefed on its affiliated archaeological sites and its experience in heritage protection, site management, and improving the visitor experience, in addition to discussing areas for exchanging expertise and capacity building in these aspects.

In the context of exploring opportunities to utilise sports in tourism promotion, the Minister met with representatives of Inter Milan to discuss possible areas of cooperation in introducing the Sultanate of Oman and its tourism assets.

The programme also included a presentation by AIGO, the company managing the Omani Tourism Promotion Office in Italy, regarding the Italian tourism market and opportunities to strengthen the Sultanate of Oman's presence within it. This was held alongside meetings with several prominent Italian media institutions to highlight the diverse tourism and heritage experiences abundant in the Sultanate of Oman.

These meetings come as part of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism's efforts to enhance international partnerships, benefit from specialised expertise in developing tourism products and preserving heritage, and support the Sultanate of Oman's presence in target tourism markets.
