Oman’s Embassy in Washington organises introductory meeting for ‘Inter Astra Oman’ initiative

Washington— The Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in Washington organized, via video conference, the first introductory meeting for the “Inter Astra Oman” initiative, as part of the business campaign in the space sector between the Sultanate of Oman and the United States of America.

The meeting included the participation of a number of Omani companies specializing in the space sector, representatives of relevant government agencies, and representatives of American institutions and companies participating in the initiative.

The meeting was organized within the framework of the Embassy’s efforts to enhance economic and technological cooperation between the two countries in the space sector, and to support the objectives of “Oman Vision 2040” and the National Policy and Executive Program for the Omani Space Sector (2023–2033), by expanding partnership opportunities with leading American institutions and companies in this sector.

The 12-month initiative aims to build strategic partnerships between the Omani and American space sectors by identifying the capabilities, needs, and future directions of Omani companies and connecting them with American partners who possess the appropriate expertise, technical capabilities, and investment potential. This will contribute to exploring business and investment opportunities, transferring knowledge and technology, and developing joint projects with added economic value.

The meeting addressed the initiative's objectives and implementation phases. First Secretary Khalid Abdullah Al Balushi, responsible for space cooperation at the embassy, ​​reviewed potential areas of cooperation between companies in both countries. Discussions also covered aspirations, challenges, and opportunities for future collaboration, paving the way for sustainable commercial and technological partnerships.

The initiative seeks to support the growth of the space sector in the Sultanate of Oman, enhance the capabilities and competitiveness of national companies, and leverage American expertise and resources to develop new economic opportunities. This will strengthen Oman's position within the regional and international space industry.
