Royal Academy of Management launches Aazim Programme for empowering leaders with disabilities

Muscat: The Royal Academy of Management (RAM), in partnership with the Ministry of Social Development, has launched "Aazim," an executive learning programme for public sector leaders with disabilities in the Sultanate of Oman. The launch was held in the presence of Sheikh Rashid Ahmed Al Shamsi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Development for Family Affairs and Community Development.

Designed for 30 department heads and managers holding leadership or supervisory roles across the government, Aazim builds on the existing experience participants bring to their institutions. It will help them develop their own approach to leadership, communicate with confidence, build professional partnerships, and lead teams whose members have diverse abilities and perspectives.

Dr. Ali Qassim Al Lawati, President of the Royal Academy of Management, stated: “Aazim reflects the Royal Academy of Management’s commitment to social responsibility and equal opportunity. Omani professionals with disabilities have an important contribution to make as leaders. They should have every opportunity to take on greater responsibility and a voice in the decisions that shape their institutions.”

“The long-term effectiveness of our public administration depends on how well we develop the talents of all our people. When colleagues have the encouragement and support to use their abilities fully, they can strengthen their institutions and contribute directly to Oman’s development,” He added.

The programme addresses the practical development needs of government leaders and links learning directly to lasting improvements in institutional operations, supporting Oman Vision 2040’s goal for an effective, flexible, and innovative public sector.

Aazim covers three primary pillars. Self-leadership provides participants the opportunity to reflect on their leadership identity, recognize their strengths, and target areas for personal development. Leading teams focuses on participative leadership, adapting communication to team needs, and actively involving members in decision-making. Leading community initiatives examines policies and legislation related to persons with disabilities while helping participants design awareness initiatives that challenge stereotypes within their institutions.

Through Aazim, the Royal Academy of Management continues its strategic mission to develop executive leadership across the Sultanate of Oman while advancing inclusion, fairness, and equal opportunity in the workplace.
