Oman stocks closes in positive terrain

Muscat: Even though the trading activity was low, the MSM 30 Index ended on a positive note at 5,349.12 points, up 0.42 per cent. The MSM Shariah Index gained 0.29 per cent to close at 836.98 points.
Phoenix Power was the most active in terms of volume while Omantel led in terms of turnover. Al Madina Investment, up 5.08 per cent was the day’s top gainer while Oman Textiles was the top loser, with loss of 7.93 per cent.
As many as 690 trades were executed on Sunday, generating a turnover of OMR2.9 million with 12.1 million shares changing hands. Out of 45 traded securities, 19 advanced, 7 declined and 19 remained unchanged. Omani investors were net buyers to the tune of OMR395,000 followed by GCC and Arab investors at OMR315,000. Foreign investors, who were net sellers, sold shares amounting to OMR710,000.
Financial Index has strong gains of 0.78 per cent to close at 6,596.69 points. Al Madina Investments, Global Financial Investments, Gulf Investments, Ominvest and Takaful Oman gained 5.08 per cent, 3.85 per cent, 3.26 per cent, 2.04 per cent and 1.98 per cent respectively. Al Batinah Development and Investment and Bank Muscat declined 1.33 per cent and 0.54 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index advanced 0.34 per cent to 6,591.32 points. Construction Materials, Gulf International Chemicals, Al Anwar Ceramics, Galfar Engineering and Al Jazeera Steel increased 3.13 per cent, 1.92 per cent, 1.79 per cent, 1.64 per cent and 0.73 per cent respectively. Oman Textiles and Oman Fisheries declined 7.93 per cent and 1.79 per cent respectively.
Services Index closed at 3,048.70 points, up 0.09 per cent. Phoenix Power, Ooredoo, Al Batinah Power and Al Suwadi Power increased 2.07 per cent, 0.57 per cent, 0.50 per cent and 0.50 per cent respectively. Al Jazeera Services, National Gas and United Power declined 1.04 per cent 1 per cent and 0.29 per cent respectively.
