What if you have multiple salad dressings sitting in your refrigerator? Use them in many ways other than on the typical green salad.
As a Marinade
Your favourite salad dressing also makes a great marinade for grilled chicken and steaks. Toss the meat in a sealed bag and pour in a bottle of salad dressing for an easy marinade.
For Braised Dishes
Balsamic vinaigrette becomes more fragrant when heated. Try adding this dressing base to braised dishes for extra flavour.Braising is browning meat in oil, then cooking it in a small amount of liquid in a tightly covered pan.
In Dips
Add ranch dressing to a mashed-up avocado for a dipping sauce for crackers or crudites when you need to bring an appetiser to a party. This way you can perk up your ordinary dips to be had with fresh veggies. If you want the dip to be thin add a few tablespoons of water.
As an Appetiser
A quick and easy appetiser can be had when you toss cut tomatoes in Italian salad dressing and then place them on toasted slices of bread to make a mock bruschetta. Bruschetta is a traditional Italian appetiser.
In Breads
Do you know you can use dry salad dressings to make breads? If you make a loaf of bread, cover it with olive oil and top that with dry Italian dressing — you’ll have delicious Italian bread.
