25th Gulf Cup: Fans present at Basra Airport to return to Oman without attending final match
The final match between Oman and Iraq is taking place today.

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman has offered its condolences to Iraq for the victims, their families and those injured in the stampede incident in the vicinity of the final match of the Arabian Gulf Cup.

Oman has expressed its sincere sympathy to the government and people of the brotherly Republic of Iraq, and has expressed its wishes for a speedy recovery for the injured.

Previously, the Omani Football Association stated that after consulting with the competent authorities in the Sultanate of Oman, in order to preserve the safety of the Omani masses, as well as in support of Iraq for the success of the final match, it was decided that the fans present at Basra International Airport would return to Sultanate of Oman without attending the match.

It is noteworthy that the final match between Oman and Iraq in the Gulf Cup is taking place today. In the late hours of the day, a stampede occurred between fans in the vicinity of the stadium where the match was being held, which led to one death and 60 injuries.
