Muscat: Several regions and wilayats in the Sultanate of Oman experienced heavy hailstones, which led to the mountains and plateaus being covered in white. It was a sight to behold during the summer season.
Several wilayats in the Sultanate of Oman including Qurayyat in the Governorate of Muscat, Saham and Sohar in the Governorate of North Al Batinah, Al Jabal Al Akhdar and Al Hamra in the Wilayat of Al Dakhiliyah had heavy hailstones falling on Thursday.
It was confirmed to Times of Oman by an official from the Omani Meteorology on Wednesday that, the air depression will continue over various governorates of the Sultanate, especially the northern ones and the areas adjacent to the two chains of the Hajar Mountains on Thursday and Friday.
On other hand, The Civil Aviation Authority, (CAA) said on Thursday in its Alert No. (10) that is likely to rain during the noon and evening periods, which are concentrated in the governorates of South Al Sharqiyah, North Al Sharqiyah, Dhofar, Al Wusta, Al Dakhiliyah, Al Dhahirah, North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah and parts of Muscat Governorate, which may range from 30 to 70 mm.
